The ISEQ index of Irish shares staged a comeback today, climbing 156 points to 6820.48.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares staged a comeback today, climbing 156 points to 6820.48.

On a day when figures from ESRI and Permanent TSB showed that the average house prices across the country fell by more than 7% in 2007 Abbey Plc dropped €0.08 to €6.32 and McInerney Holdings dropped €0.02 to €1.59.

The financial institutions prospered on the positive mood on the trading floor: AIB jumped €0.43 to €15.31, Anglo moved up €0.50 to €9.90, IL&P were up €0.73 to €11.43 and BoI increased €0.37 to €10.18.
