Shannon Airport has reported record passenger numbers of 3.6 million for last year.

The airport says international traffic increased by 6% during 2007, while the number taking short-haul trips was up 10%.

The growth comes despite the axing of Aer Lingus' Shannon to Heathrow route.

Shannon Airport says it hopes the arrival of a CityJet-Air France service to Paris will offset that loss in 2008.
