Banks led the FTSE 100 Index deep into the red today after a gloomy note on the sector from investment bank Morgan Stanley.

Banks led the FTSE 100 Index deep into the red today after a gloomy note on the sector from investment bank Morgan Stanley.

The Footsie dropped by more than 1%, closing down 71.4 points at 6315.2.
