The ISEQ index of Irish shares saw a 2.36% bounce in morning trade today, up 156.62 to 6780.71 points.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares saw a 2.36% bounce in morning trade today, up 156.62 to 6780.71 points.

PaddyPower saw the biggest loss of the morning so far, down 15c to €22.50. Drinks and snacks group C&C saw a drop of 4c in its shareprice, down to €4.04.

It was otherwise a generally positive start to the week as banking stocks and others regained some of the ground lost last week. AIB saw a 64c surge to €14.48, while Bank of Ireland regained 41c of its share value to €10.18.

Anglo Irish Bank shared the positive trend and saw a rise of 34c to €9.72. Irish Life and Permanent was up 23c to €12.03.

There were in general less dramatic gains in the building sector: McInerney was up 2c to €1.16, while Kingspan rose 28c to €13.58. Grafton saw a 3c rise to €6.18.
