Bagless vacuum cleaner pioneer James Dyson picked up a £59m (€84.7m) salary and dividend payout last year after seeing profits soar by nearly a fifth, it emerged today.

The group's annual report reveals that the inventor awarded himself a £30m (€43m) dividend on top of his £29m (€41.6m) salary following a 9% rise in annual sales and 19% pre-tax profits boost, to £115m (€165.17m).
