Game firm calls for console price cut

Lara Croft computer games publisher Sci Entertainment today revealed extra losses of almost £10 million and called on manufacturer Sony to cut the price of the PlayStation 3 console.

Sci has increased provisions on its PS3 titles in development from £4m (€5.7m) to £13.8m (€8.1m) since an initial profits warning in July.

It said the PS3 console could take longer than expected to become a commercial success and wants Sony to act to boost console sales.

Sci said: “The board is of the opinion that the key driver to the acceleration of the installed base of PS3 will be a further hardware price cut."
