Barratt uncertain over market outlook

British housebuilder Barratt Developments today said it was unclear how long the UK's housing market would take to recover from the recent interest rate hikes and impact of the credit market crisis.

House buyer confidence has already been hit by the squeeze in debt markets as mortgage banks tightened their lending criteria, according to the group.
