Thomas Crosbie Holdings Ltd. has received formal approval from The Competition Authority for the proposed acquisition of a majority shareholding in both WLR and Beat 102-103.

Thomas Crosbie Holdings Ltd. has received formal approval from The Competition Authority for the proposed acquisition of a majority shareholding in both WLR and Beat 102-103.

Thomas Crosbie Holdings Ltd has acquired a 75% shareholding in Beat 102-103, the successful regional radio station in the southeast.

Thomas Crosbie Holdings Ltd has also acquired a 75% stake in award-winning Waterford radio station WLR FM.

WLR FM managing director Des Whelan has retained a 25% stake in the station which broadcasts in Waterford city and county.

Commenting on the announcement TCH Group Managing Director said: ” We are delighted to have received approval from The Competition Authority. We can now proceed with building and developing our business. The addition of WLR FM and Beat 102-103 FM will greatly enhance our portfolio of businesses and brands.”

Thomas Crosbie Holdings Limited Ireland’s fastest growing media group comprises eighteen newspapers; the Irish Examiner, the Evening Echo, the Waterford News & Star, the Western People, the Sligo Weekender, The Kingdom, the Newry Democrat, the Down Democrat, the Nationalist and Leinster Times, the Kildare Nationalist, the Laois Nationalist, The Sunday Business Post, Roscommon Herald, Enniscorthy Echo, New Ross Echo, Gorey Echo, Wexford Echo and The Irish Post.

TCH also has an electronic media division Thomas Crosbie Media which comprises Motornet.ie , Breaking News.ie, Golfonline.ie, Rugby.ie and RecruitIreland.com with 36% shareholding in Red Fm in Cork and 15% in Mid West radio in Mayo.
