London’s blue chips found momentum in afternoon trading today after better-than-expected economic data from the US.

The FTSE 100 Index jumped 57.7 points to close at 6363.9 after a softer than forecast rise in US claims for unemployment benefits boosted markets on Wall Street, helping to firm investor confidence on this side of the Atlantic.
