Rightmove's rapid growth continues

The UK’s leading property website Rightmove today continued its strong growth with nine in ten UK properties for sale now featuring on the website.

The Milton Keynes-based firm said pre-tax profits from continuing operations for the six months to June 30 almost doubled over last year to £12.1m (€17.85m), compared to £6.3m (€9.3m) in 2006.

It added that the outlook for the remainder of the year remained positive despite the turbulence in equity and debt markets in recent weeks, as it continued to benefit from growing use of the internet by estate agents.

Managing director Ed Williams said: “Rightmove continued to grow rapidly during the first half of the year as we increased our membership of agents and new home developers.

“Rightmove has become an essential tool for all homebuyers with around nine out of ten properties available in the UK now presented on the website.”
