Halifax opens first retail banking kiosk

Halifax has today launched what it claims to be Ireland’s first retail banking information kiosk.

The first "Xtra" kiosk opened today and is located in the Scotch Hall Shopping Centre in Drogheda.

It will provide information on all Halifax products, and will offer customers expanded opening hours and banking accessibility.

As well as applying for products online, in branches and by phone, customers who call into the Xtra kiosks can receive information on the bank’s current account, credit cards and personal loans, and get information on the full range of its mortgage products.

There are also free telephone and web facilities in the kiosk where customers can contact the bank’s customer service centre or bank online.

“Xtra is about offering extra convenience to customers,” said Chrissy Quinn, head of retail at Halifax.

“Our flexible opening hours and the accessibility factor of being right in the middle of a busy shopping centre will mean that it has never been easier for customers to bank.

“We will pilot this pioneering kiosk over the remainder of 2007 to seek feedback on the concept, opening hours and overall customer experience to determine whether it is a compelling proposition for consumers.

“This will determine our future plans concerning the number and location of similar kiosks.”
