Ryanair hits out at ‘stupid’ ruling by advert watchdog
Ryanair has hit out at a British ruling banning its from claiming that its London to Brussels flights are cheaper and faster than Eurostar services.
A Ryanair ad had compared a flight from Stansted Airport near London to Charleroi Airport near Brussels.
However, the British Advertising Standards Authority says the airline failed to take account of the time it takes to travel to and from the airports, which adds another hour and 45 minutes to the journey.
The watchdog also found that Ryanair made a misleading claim by saying its flights were cheaper than Eurostar because it failed to include the cost of transfers from the airports to London and Brussels.
A Ryanair spokesman responded today by describing the ruling as "stupid".
