Shannon Development has called an emergency meeting of local business, tourism and community leaders in Shannon to discuss the decision by Aer Lingus to axe its services to Heathrow Airport.

Fine Gael also called on the Government to convene an extraordinary general meeting of the airline’s board to review the shock development announced yesterday by chief executive Dermot Mannion.
