The ISEQ index of Irish shares has recovered from the morning 150-point slump to finish the day down only one point at 8,562.39.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares has recovered from the morning 150-point slump to finish the day down only one point at 8,562.39.

The financial sector was mainly responsible for the recovery as three of the major banks recorded positive results. suffered more so than any other with AIB plummeting 59c to €18.66. Irish Life and Permanent had a 24c rise to €17.99, Bank of Ireland increased by 13c to €14.08 while, Anglo Irish Bank grew by 5c to €13.75.
