Bank of Ireland has announced plans to create almost 250 new jobs in the North.

The bank says 149 jobs will be created over the next five years at a specialist business in Belfast to service the offshore alternative investment funds market.

Another 100 jobs will be created in an expansion of its existing branch and business centre north of the border.

Meanwhile, 50 new jobs have been created in Limerick following the opening of a new DIY store in the city.

The Woodies DIY and Garden Centre is located on the Ennis Road and brings the total number of people employed by the company to 1,600.
