Riverdeep in record deal

Riverdeep has bought publisher Reed Elsevier's US education arm, Harcourt for €2.9bn.

Riverdeep has bought publisher Reed Elsevier's US education arm, Harcourt for €2.9bn.

This is one of the top four deals in Irish corporate history, and Riverdeep boss Barry O'Callaghan's second very big deal in ten months.

Last October Riverdeep took over another US publisher, Houghton Mifflin, in a €3.2bn deal.
