The head of Shannon Development has warned that the end of the Shannon stop-over is creating challenges for businesses in the west of Ireland.

Kevin Thompstone said the region relies heavily on transatlantic air services to drive inward investment and overseas tourism.

He has called on the Government to deliver on promises of marketing support for the region.

Shannon Development launched its annual report today.

It showed that 2,087 new jobs were created there last year while overseas visitor numbers rose by 20%.
