UK driving school halts closures
British driving school business BSM staged a U-turn today over plans to close its network of high street centres.
BSM said 280 employees at risk of redundancy since last September would now remain with the business.
The company had planned to issue instructors with handheld devices, replacing the work undertaken at 107 centres across the UK.
However, BSM said today it had decided not to roll-out the new IT systems and will retain the centres.
BSM director Frank Wilson said: “In hindsight, the decision to close all the centres was wrong and we would like to apologise for the uncertainty that this has caused for our employees, instructors and learners.”
