Minister for Enterprise Micheál Martin has announced a €20m programme aimed at increasing the number of professors and lecturers in engineering in Ireland.

Minister for Enterprise Micheál Martin has announced a €20m programme aimed at increasing the number of professors and lecturers in engineering in Ireland.

The SFI Engineering Professorship and Lectureship Programme, which is to be jointly funded through Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and industry partners, will create 35 new engineering posts in Higher Education Institutes in Ireland over the next four years.

It is expected that the people filling these posts will be internationally-competitive researchers, performing at the highest level. They will contribute to the teaching programmes of the applying institutions.
