Irish Times invests in entertainment website

Entertainment website, entertainment.ie has announced a strategic investment in the company by The Irish Times.

The investment is part of the Irish Times' online strategy, and follows the group's acquisition of Myhome.ie last year.

Entertainment.ie provides listings for more than 5,000 venues around the country.

Every cinema screen in Ireland is featured on the website along with schedules for 46 TV channels and more than 2,000 movie reviews, trailers, albums and DVDs.

Managing director of entertainment.ie, Julian Douglas said: " We are delighted to welcome the Irish Times as a trusted partner to help us take entertainment.ie to the next phase of development.

"Our target is to ensure entertainment.ie will become the automatic website of choice to Irish consumers interested in the most up-to-date entertainment news and finding out what's happening, where and when."

Former FM104 CEO and shareholder in entertainment.ie, Dermot Hanrahan, takes up a new position as executive chairman.
