Meteor was today presented with the ‘Excellence Through People’ standard by Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Noel Dempsey, at an official ceremony at the Marriott Johnstown House Hotel in Enfield.

Meteor is the first mobile operator in Ireland to achieve full accreditation of this standard throughout the entire company.

Awarded by FÁS, this accolade represents Ireland’s National Standard for the development of human resources management.

Accepting the award on behalf of the company, Meteor’s managing director Larry Smith said: “As Meteor continues to grow we pride ourselves on our ability to continuously develop and implement successful HR practices.

“In doing so we are fulfilling our responsibility to providing ‘best practice’ HR standards, thus continuing to make Meteor a great place to work.

The ‘Excellence Through People’ award is a great way to recognise the efforts of those that work tirelessly to achieve these standards.”

It is designed to establish best practice for the training and development of people.

Its objectives are to act as a business improvement tool; to promote learning, development and involvement in line with the organisation’s plans, as well as being a driver for change and innovation.
