Veridian Group's Patrick Bourke, currently group finance director, is to become group chief executive, it was announced today.
Patrick Haren is to become non-executive deputy chairman as part of the board reshuffle.
"These appointments reflect our succession planning at Board level," said Viridian chairman, Asim Zafar.
"We look forward to working with Patrick Bourke as group chief executive as Viridian further develops its energy businesses in Ireland.
"We are delighted to have Patrick Haren’s continuing support for the business in a non-executive capacity. He has done a first class job of leading NIE and Viridian for the last 15 years, during some very challenging periods, to create the successful integrated energy business that Viridian is today.”
Patrick Bourke has been Group Finance Director with Viridian since 2000.
He previously spent five years with Powergen, where he had been group treasurer and before that head of mergers and acquisitions.
He was formerly a director of Barclays de Zoete Wedd and qualified as a chartered accountant with Peat Marwick (now KPMG).
"I am delighted to have been appointed group chief executive," he said. " We have an efficient business, staffed by a very capable workforce, with excellent prospects for future growth and development.
"As we enter the first year of a new T&D price control, I am committed to ensuring that NIE continues to deliver a quality service to customers in Northern Ireland and to growing our integrated energy business in competitive markets across Ireland."
