Chocolate group reports sales boost

Increased sales to supermarkets and the sunny Easter weather helped lift British chocolate maker Thorntons out of its sales gloom today.

The Derbyshire-based group said it would meet full-year forecasts as total sales rose by 11.6% over the 14 weeks to April 14 after the sunshine over the holiday period helped drive ice-cream sales in its stores and cafes.
