UK: Vauxhall move safeguards jobs
Car giant Vauxhall is to build its new Astra at its UK factory in Ellesmere Port, safeguarding jobs at the plant, it was announced today.
Assembly of the new model will take place at four manufacturing plants in Germany, Sweden and Poland as well as Ellesmere Port.
The news was warmly welcomed by the British government and union leaders, who predicted that thousands of jobs would be safeguarded.
