Former 02 manager appointed to top post at 3

Mobile media network 3 has today announced the appointment of former 02 business portfolio manager Damien Gallagher as its new head of business & new initiatives.

Gallagher is to focus on developing 3’s entry into the business market and managing opportunities in wholesale mobile broadband.

“I’m delighted to welcome Damien to the team,” said 3’s managing director Robert Finnegan.

“We hit the regulatory target of 85% 3G coverage throughout Ireland, at the end of 2006 one year early – an incredible achievement and we now have high-speed mobile broadband enabled nationwide.

“With Damien’s appointment, we will explore opportunities in the business market which promise to open up new revenue streams for 3.”

Mr Gallagher added: “This is an exciting time as 3 aims to shake up the sector in the same way 3 is bringing much needed competition to consumers.”
