Shell settles compensation claims
Royal Dutch Shell today said it would pay £180m (€265) to shareholders as part of latest moves to draw a line under the biggest crisis in its history.
The proposed compensation settlement relates to non-US shareholders and comes three years after Shell stunned the City by downgrading its proven oil and gas reserves. The crisis claimed the scalps of three senior executives and led to regulators in the UK and the US imposing substantial fines.
