Daily Mail publisher increases ad market share

British newspaper publisher and media group Daily Mail and General Trust today said it had continued to grow its share of national advertising despite a tough London newspaper market.

The publisher of the Daily Mail national newspaper, which rejoined the FTSE 100 Index last week, reported that total advertising revenues for its Associated Newspapers division rose 10% in the six months to February.

Circulation figures for the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday remained broadly unchanged in the six-month period, although both have increased market share, according to the group.

Its Northcliffe regional publishing arm has offset falls in revenues by cutting costs and the group said the division saw its first year-on-year advertising revenue rise for nearly two years.
