Shipping company Irish Continental Group (ICG), which owns Irish Ferries, has confirmed that chief executive Eamonn Rothwell may lead a management buy-out of the company.

A group of independent directors appointed to examine the proposal have said they are prepared to recommend an offer of €18.50 per share.
