Outdoor clothing specialist Blacks Leisure today announced that it is to close 45 UK stores in an attempt to revive its trading performance.
The Northampton-based company, which also trades under the Millets and O’Neill brands, did not say how many jobs would be at risk from the closures and did not release details of which stores were to close.
The firm said most of the stores would be smaller Millets branches.
Blacks warned in January that profits for the second half of the year would come in “substantially below” market expectations after sales fell 6% in the key five weeks to December 30 amid the warm winter weather.
It said today it believed its trading result for the financial year to yesterday would “broadly break even”.
