The ISEQ closed up 145.27 points at 9350.43 today, with most of the main players on the index making gains.

Anglo Irish Bank was the day’s busiest share, and closed up 54c (3.5%) at €16.05, after saying today that it plans to raise about €542m from the issue of 35.7 million new shares.

Allied Irish Bank closed up 42c (1.9%) at €22.55, after saying it had dropped margins on its mortgage tracker rates.

Bank of Ireland gained 31c (1.8%) to €17.45. One of its employees and his family were kidnapped this morning in Dublin.

Irish Life and Permanent closed up 15c at €20.75.

FBD made 30c to close at €39.90.

Trinity Biotech was one company that made a loss, slipping 6c (3.4%) to €1.72, after announcing that it had agreed a deal with a group of clinics in New York.

Back in positive territory, C&C closed up 37c (3.3%) at €11.75.

Paddy Power gained 35c (2.1%) to €17.15.

Grafton closed up 24c (2.1%) at €12.07. CRH was up 50c (1.7%) at the end of the day, while Kingspan was up 24c (1.2%) at €19.61.

Ryanair shares closed up 13c (1.2%) at €11.00, after winning an appeal against a judgment that gave the Labour Court the right to investigate a row between the airline and its pilots.
