Home improvement website targets SSIA spenders

Home and garden search engine HomeWise.ie is set to benefit from the expected surge in spending on home improvements over the coming months when the remaining two-thirds of SSIAs are due to mature.

Managing director of HomeWise.ie Rosey Broderick said: "About two-thirds of SSIAs will mature in March and April this year and according to studies about 20% of people plan to spend their SSIA savings on home improvements."

Since its launch last March HomeWise.ie has generated over €2m in business for home and garden suppliers and services nationwide through their online quotation service.

HomeWise.ie lists more than 50,000 home and garden suppliers, as well as service providers who are keen to target consumers spending their SSIA windfall.

HomeWise.ie’s advertisers include services, tradesmen and suppliers of businesses from financial services, electricians to sustainable energy products.

Advertisers on the site also include non-traditional niche product suppliers who are keen to reach SSIA spenders in areas such as home technology, outdoor leisure and home office products.

HomeWise.ie already attracts more than 60,000 visits per month and was short-listed for Best Website Launched in 2006 at the recent Golden Spiders Irish Internet Awards.

"For those people looking to spend their SSIA savings, HomeWise.ie enables users to search a selection of quality suppliers and tradespeople based on consumer ratings and reviews and offers innovative new ideas that can help them to realise their dream home and garden through a comprehensive library of news and information."
