Foods group Uniq today said it was ready for the next stage of its recovery in the UK after sales increased 6.1% in the last three months of 2006.

The group will now look to improve margins after the level of expenditure required to produce the UK sales lift was higher than expected.

Uniq, which supplies sandwiches and ready meals to Marks & Spencer and desserts to Tesco, recently announced losses of £8.4m (€12.7m) from continuing operations in the first six months of its financial year.
