Energia seals Gunne energy deal
Energy supplier Energia, has secured an electricity deal to supply green energy to auctioneers Gunne Residential.
Energia supply an electricity requirement of over 250,000 KWhrs (Kilowatt hours) annually from renewable resources to eight of Gunne’s offices. It is estimated that the Gunne deal will remove up to 1,200 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the atmosphere, the equivalent of taking 300 cars off the road annually, Energia said today.
The deal will expand to power an additional five offices with green energy in early 2007, as Gunne develop its network of branch locations in Dublin and Leinster.
Earlier this month, Energia announced the establishment of €550m in contracts which will underpin the construction of 15 new wind farms in Ireland with a combined capacity of 165 Megawatts (MW).
Energia says these wind farms will save approximately 215,000 tonnes of CO2 and other harmful emissions from entering the atmosphere, the equivalent of taking 50,000 cars off the roads annually.
A member of the Viridian Group, Energia also sources electricity from the Group’s power station at Huntstown in Dublin.
