Record Christmas for UK department stores

House of Fraser was today celebrating its best ever week of trading after a “terrific” Christmas trading period for the department store chain.

The group said like-for-like sales were up 7.3% on a year earlier in December, even though the retailer faced strong comparatives from 2005. It added that the company’s performance during the Christmas week was its best ever.
