Ryanair loses internet domain name case

Ryanair has lost a case over the use of an internet domain name set up by a disgruntled former customer.

The World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva has dismissed the airline's attempt to gain control over the use of www.ryanaircampaign.org.

The site, which is critical of Ryanair and informs people of how they can make complaints to the company, was set up by Londoner Michael Coulston earlier this year.

Ryanair argued that the domain name infringed on its trademarks, but he WIPO ruled that there is no evidence the site is being used in bad faith.
