The European Commission has announced an "in-depth investigation" into Ryanair's planned takeover of Aer Lingus.

The European Commission has announced an "in-depth investigation" into Ryanair's planned takeover of Aer Lingus.

Following the announcement, Ryanair said the buyout automatically lapsed under takeover rules, but the company intended to make a further offer if the EC review cleared the way.
