EasyJet accused of breaking French labour laws
French authorities said today they are investigating low-cost airline easyJet for suspected labour code violations.
Authorities are looking at whether the airline violated French law by hiring workers at Orly airport, south of Paris, with British work contracts.
A local prosecutor’s office, at Creteil near the airport, said it opened the inquiry today.
Creteil prosecutor Jean-Michel Durand said the company could be charged this evening, when a company representative was expected to appear before a magistrate leading the probe.
He said an easyJet manager at Orly was taken into police custody on Thursday but was released Friday.
