Bidding for the mainstream holiday packages business of UK travel company First Choice today looked to have become a straight fight between MyTravel and Thomas Cook.

The Financial Times said offers were now not expected from Tui and Kuoni, the two other European tour operators thought to be interested in the operation, which is believed to be worth around £500m (€738.4m).
