A group of protestors has gathered outside the Dáil today to call for government intervention in a redundancy dispute in Limerick.

More than 300 people lost their jobs when the O'Kane poultry group closed its Castlemahon plant in west Limerick earlier this year.

The workers, some of whom had been employed at the factory for 30 years, were promised five weeks' pay per year of service, but they say they have only received two weeks so far.

Speaking at today's protest, former worker Tom Condon said he and his colleagues were under huge pressure due to the financial strain in the run-up to Christmas.
