John Lewis and Comet became the latest retailers to benefit from the boom in demand for flat screen televisions today as sales outstripped the surge ahead of the World Cup.

John Lewis said sales of flat screen TVs were doing “incredibly well” while Comet owner Kesa Electricals said they “remained strong” throughout August, September and October.
