McInerney announces new MD for Spanish operations

Construction firm McInerney Holdings plc has today announced the appointment of Desmond O’Connor as managing director for McInerney Spain.

Mr. O’Connor joins McInerney from Smurfit Kappa Group Spain, and will be responsible for managing existing operations while also sourcing suitable acquisition opportunities for the company's Spanish operations.

Mr. O’Connor also previously held positions in Spain with the Irish Trade Board (Enterprise Ireland) and Jefferson Smurfit Group. He holds a Batchelor in Civil Law degree from University College Cork.

“His broad business acumen and knowledge of general management, in particular within the Spanish region, will bring many benefits to McInerney Spain,” said McInerney Holdings plc managing director Barry O’Connor.

“Our objective in Spain is to increase the number of projects under development and expand through organic growth.

“We have a number of significant land tracts which are going through the planning approval process that will provide a substantial pipeline of revenue in the medium term. We view this appointment as a strategic step in facilitating the continued growth path of our Spanish operation.”
