Hopes high that talks can avert strike action in Arnotts

It’s hoped that talks at the Labour Relations Commission on Monday can avert industrial action at Arnotts.

The company plans to move its storage facilities from Henry Street to Tallaght.

57 workers attached to SIPTU say they weren't properly consulted, and will be forced to work new shift patterns at the new facility.

They're threatening to strike on the 23rd of November, if they cant reach agreement.

SIPTU Branch Organiser John Flannery has said many of the workers have been there for a long time

He added: “That's the problem I think, the company haven't taken on board that some of them have more than 30 years service and that some would be coming close to retirement age and all of those things have to be taken into consideration.”
