ISEQ enjoys positive day’s trading
The Irish Stock Exchange enjoyed a buoyant day’ strading today, the ISEQ index jumping 73.29 points to 8348.53 by close of business.
The financial sector led the way, with Allied Irish Bank (up 48c to €21.09) and Anglo Irish Bank (up 30c to €13.55) leading the way. Bank of Ireland showed a modest 5c increase to €15.25, with Irish Life & Permanent shedding just 4c to €19.65.
This mood was echoed in the construction sector, with Kingspan the best performer, climbing 21c to €16.58. Close behind were CRH (up 21c to €16.58), with McInerney Holdings jumping 11c to €13.14.
The standout performer of the Exchange was FBD however, which posting the biggest gain, soaring 65c to €38.90. C&C (up 16c to €11.55), Elan (up 17c to €12.20) and Donegal Creameries (up 10c to €4.60) also did well.
After days of growth following news of an impending takeover from Ryaniar, Aer Lingus steadied, dropping 2c to €2.96. Shares in Ryanair continued to decline, falling 15c to €8.65 following another rise in oil prices.
