Internet activity hits record high during live Dáil feed

Irish internet activity hit a record high yesterday as thousands of users logged on to view a live feed of Bertie Ahern answering questions in the Dáil.

Ireland's internet hub, INEX, reached a new peak as the Taoiseach faced opposition questions about the payments he received from businessmen in 1993 and 1994.

The previous record was set during a live Dáil feed of last year's budget speech.

INEX says internet usage yesterday afternoon was 80% higher than normal.
