Barclays have renewed their sponsorship with the English Premier League in a deal until 2010 worth £65.8m (€98m).

The new deal is effectively a two-year extension to the bank’s current deal with the league.

“We all know about the fantastic appeal of the Barclays Premiership in the UK but this sponsorship also fits our international presence and aspirations particularly in Asia and continental Europe.” said Barclays president Bob Diamond.

The deal also means Barclays will sponsor the Premier League’s official pre-season tournament, the Premier League Asia Trophy.
