Igenico to provide secure payment for Ryder Cup

Ingenico is preparing to support the Ryder Cup by providing payment services during the tournament in conjunction with AIB.

When the Ryder Cup tees off at the K Club on the next week it will signal an economic windfall with up to 40,000 people per day attending the competition and a staggering €130m expected to be generated for the economy.

Ingenico’s partnership with AIB will see the secure payment solutions provider install up to 80 of its i7770 Bluetooth terminals for the week long event. The terminals will be used for secure payment at hospitality and retail outlets.

The Ingenico i7770 terminal is the most widely deployed portable Bluetooth terminal in the Irish market.

The new deal with AIB complements an existing exclusive agreement that sees Ingenico provide secure credit and debit card services to AIB in the Irish and UK markets.

The general manager of Ingenico Ireland Cillian Wright said: “The 2006 Ryder Cup is one of the most hotly anticipated of recent years and the economic effects of the competition are going to be felt all across Ireland.

“We are delighted to be partnering with AIB to ensure that all transactions during the Ryder Cup are conducted efficiently and securely.”

A spokesperson at AIB said: “We are delighted to be working with Ingenico to enhance the experience of everyone who attends. Payment security is a key priority for AIB and by utilising the expertise of Ingenico we will provide a safe payment environment for retailers and consumers alike.”
