The leading Irish coffee retailer Insomnia has struck a deal to serve only Fairtrade coffee to its customers.

Insomnia reaches deal to only sell Fairtrade coffee

The leading Irish coffee retailer Insomnia has struck a deal to serve only Fairtrade coffee to its customers.

The agreement has been reached following nine months of negotiations.

It means more than 2.5 million cups of Fairtrade coffee will be served to Insomnia customers every year, benefiting producers in Ethiopia, Peru and Indonesia.

The deal represents more than 20% of all Fairtrade coffee business in Ireland.
