O2 Ireland plans €250m next generation network

O2 Ireland is set to invest a total of €250m in a next generation mobile network. The money will be spent in the next 18 months.

O2 Ireland is set to invest a total of €250m in a next generation mobile network. The money will be spent in the next 18 months.

The company intends the new infrastructure to provide broadband services over the mobile network. Bandwidth will match that available now from both fixed and wireless operators, the company says.

O2 says that by the end of the year, its network will support broadband for more than 60% of consumers nationwide. This will rise to 80% of customers by the end of 2007.
