Limerick docklands 'could create 1,000 jobs'
The Shannon Foynes Port Authority says up to 1,000 jobs could be created as a result of the redevelopment of more than 40 acres of its land at Limerick's docklands.
The company says 750 people could also be employed during the construction phase of the project, which is still at a very early stage and has yet to go through the planning process.
It says the projections are based on proposals from developers that include an arts centre, a national convention centre, hotels, retail units and exclusive apartments.
The proposals also feature facilities for berthing sailboats and motor cruisers.
