A Galway businessman is reportedly set to buy three of the best-known hotels in the Great Southern Hotels Group.

The facilities are being sold by the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), which inherited them from the now-defunct Aer Rianta.

Reports this morning say businessman Gerry Barrett is buying the Galway Great Southern Hotel on Eyre Square, the Corrib Great Southern Hotel on the Dublin Road, both in Galway, and the Killarney Great Southern Hotel in Co Kerry for a figure of around €130m.

Dublin property developer Bernard McNamara is reportedly buying the Great Southern Hotel in Parknasilla, Co Kerry, for almost €40m.

Details of the sales are expected to be announced by the DAA later today.
